Technique
Ballet is the basic to all other styles of dance.
This technique strengthens muscles, increases flexibility, and works on proper body alignment to promote balance, style, and grace. Dancetime teaches the Ceccetti ballet style but also incorporates the Russian and French techniques as well. Students start as early as 3 years old and the more experienced dancer advance to pointe work.
Tap is a great way to promote rhythm skills and memorization. Young students love to hear the sounds of their taps while dancing to music. Experienced dancers learn the importance of musical notation and syncopated sounds through time steps and other fancy footwork. Adults are encouraged to take tap to help keep joints loose, muscles strong, and the brain alert. Tap students have the opportunity to audition for our spring tap production. Tap is offered to students 3 years to adult.
This style of dance offers dancers diversity. Dancetime combines lyrical, classical, contempory, and musical theater styles to each class so to teach a dancer to be well rounded and prepared for stage, video, or television work. Jazz promotes a channel for a student to express themself and broaden their imagination through dance while strengthening muscles and flexability. Offered to students 5 to adult
The newest and funkiest dance style for the 21st century dancer. This style offers an outlet to dancers who don't want to worry about technique but can learn to move like the dancers in today's music videos. Hip Hop dancers work on isolation movements for "popping" and floor strength for "flash tricks." Every student will be challenged in Hip Hop without using offensive or inappropriate moves. For ages 5 to adult.
